Archive, restore and delete documents
Manage document availability and remove obsolete material deliberately.
Before you begin
- Sign in to Eva and select the intended project.
- Use fictional records when practising; changes affect the selected business.
Starting screen: /dashboard/docs
1. Open document actions
Find the document and open Actions for [document title].
Expected result: The record menu includes the lifecycle actions.
Confirm it worked: Verify the exact title before acting.
2. Archive a document
Choose Archive, then open the Archived tab.
Expected result: The document moves out of the active list.
Confirm it worked: The archived list still contains the document.
3. Restore when appropriate
From the archived document’s actions choose Restore, then return to Active.
Expected result: The document is active again.
Confirm it worked: Open it and confirm the content is intact.
4. Delete only when intended
Choose Delete from the document’s actions. Read Delete doc? and its named record. Use Cancel to keep it, or Delete to confirm permanent removal.
Expected result: Cancel preserves the document; confirmation removes it.
Confirm it worked: After confirmed deletion, refresh and search: the document is absent.
Troubleshooting and alternatives
If saving fails, keep the editor open and check your connection. Your draft remains in the editor. Retry Save, then reload after success to confirm it was saved.
Choose Cancel in Save changes? to stay in the editor with your unsaved edits. Escape also closes the warning.
When Save changes? appears before leaving a document, choose Save to keep your edits or Discard to return to the last saved version.
Choose Cancel in Delete doc? if you want to keep the document. Use Archive when you may need to restore it later.
